This arrest, which takes place within the framework of the Ayacucho Operations Plan, directly hits the command and control and the armed capacity of the Julio César Vargas Torres Substructure, of the GAO Clan del Golfo.
The military operation took place in the urban area of Yarumal, in the north of the department of Antioquia, where soldiers of the Field Artillery Battalion No. 4 Coronel Jorge Eduardo Sánchez Rodríguez, of the Fourth Brigade, and personnel of the Judicial Investigation Section (Sijín) arrested alias More, alleged member of the Julio César Vargas Torres substructure, of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo.
Alias More would have been delinquent for about 20 years for that organization, he would in the same way be involved in the armed confrontations against the residual GAO substructure 18, in the Ochali sector, Yarumal municipality, and he would in the same way be involved in the execution of the so called Pistol Plan against the Military Forces; he in the same way collected money from extortion against merchants and ranchers, he served as a logistical link for the procurement of war material and military accessories and forced recruitment.
The arrested man apparently was the second in command of this group, due to his long experience and ability to carry out operations aimed at harming the inhabitants and the Military Forces in the north of Antioquia.
Alias More must answer to the judicial authorities for the crime of aggravated homicide, manufacturing, trafficking, carrying firearms and ammunition. In addition, information is obtained about war material in the rural area of the municipality, where an AK 47 rifle, magazines, several cartridges and a pullovers alluding to the Roberto Vargas Gutiérrez Block were found.
