National Army contributes to the recovery of the Magdalena River

Troops of the National Army participated in an Ichthyologic replenishing activity in the Magdalena River, where more than 200,000 fish hatchlings were part of an environmental recovery plan.

Troops of the Infantry Battalion No.28 Colombia, of the Thirteenth Brigade, participated in the last days -with their fast boats- in an Ichthyologic restocking program in the Magdalena River, the most important river in the country, since it is, approximately, 1,540 kilometers long.

The Governorate of Cundinamarca and the Mayor of Girardot, managed the incubation of Bocachicos (a freshwater fish from Colombia), which began at the pier of the municipality of Girardot. The main objective of this project is to contribute to the environment and to the sustainable development of this river. In the same way, it is mandatory to activate the food chain and the legal fishing activity, since it is an economic source of the region.

Within the framework of Operation Artemisa, this activity was carried out by regional and local environmental authorities to fulfill the environmental goals proposed by the National Government and the Military Forces.
