In a joint operation conducted by Colombian National Army and the National Police, it was possible to dismantle a group allegedly belonging to the Teófilo Forero Structure, responsible for criminal and extortion activities in the municipality of Florencia.
The operation carried out thanks to timely information provided by the people led to the finding and neutralization of this threat in the village of La Holanda, village of Santo Domingo, municipality of Florencia. In the same way, during the operation it was possible to find two long-range rifle-type firearms.
During the operation, a firefight took place that resulted in the arrest of five individuals, one of them wounded, and the death in the framework of military operations of another individual, who was put into custody of the authorities. The wounded man received first aid on the spot, and was given immediate medical assistance in accordance with humanitarian protocols.
Preliminary investigations indicate that those arrested, including alias el Mocho, who was part of the former FARC and currently led an organized gang at the service of the Teófilo Forero Structure of the Second Marquetalia, with functions of provisioning and obtaining illicit resources for the criminal structure.
This group allegedly specialized in extortion of merchants, ranchers and farmers, and generated a monthly illegal income estimated at 250 million pesos.
