Joint operation led to the arrest of two people and the finding of 813 kilos of marijuana in La Primavera, department of Vichada.
Within the framework of the Ayacucho Plus Joint Strategic Plan, troops of the Twenty-Eighth Brigade of Colombian National Army, in a joint operation with the Colombian Navy, the Colombian Aerospace Force, National Police and CTI, reported the arrest of two people and the finding of 813 kilos of marijuana, cargo that would cost 12,300 million pesos and would be taken across the border with Venezuela to illegal markets in Europe and Africa.
The events were reported in the La Defensa sector, municipality of La Primavera, in Vichada, where a collection point was identified that functioned as a route for the transnational transportation of narcotics.
More than 75 million pesos in cash, three vans, a rudimentary boat with an engine, communication equipment and other items used to transport the drugs to illegal crossings that connect with routes used for their exit to the Guianas and then to Europe and Africa were found by troops at the site.
According to military intelligence information, this shipment was part of the financial system of the residual organized armed group (GAO-r) Structure 53 Édison Romaña, which is constant in its criminal interference in this area of the department.
This powerful result directly strikes the logistical and financial structure of drug trafficking in the region, by preventing the departure of a shipment and dismantling a strategic route used by this criminal organization.
The 28th Brigade of Colombian National Army is constant in its permanent operation in the zone to neutralize illicit routes, bloc routes used by criminal organizations and continue carrying out operations that work for the security and stability of the department of Vichada.
