National Army distributed 1,800 cocoa plants to peasants in the department of Guaviare

In order to counteract illicit plantations and generate new alternatives for economic development and well-being for farmers, Horus Soldiers of the National Army distributed 1,800 cocoa seedlings to farmers in vulnerable areas of the department of Guaviare.

 

Thanks to the operation of the Horus Soldiers of the “General José María Ortega” Jungle Battalion of the Twenty-Second Brigade and the community development program “Fe in Colombia”, peasants of the rural area of ​​the department of Guaviare, benefited with the distribution 1,800 bushes of cocoa, which were granted to farmers with the aim of generating new alternatives for economic development and encouraging the substitution of illicit plantations in the region.

 

This management favored more than 500 families that seek to increase and strengthen their cocoa plantations and thus contribute to solving the situation of illicit plantations in Colombia.

 

During the activity, Captain José Cruz Castro spoke with the farmers and benefited families about the importance of replacing coca plantations; In the same way, José Lisandro Romero, a farmer who lives in the sector, thanked the National Army for the important operation that the soldiers are carrying out: "It is evident that the Army really does want to strengthen the country lands, hopefully continue doing this operation of the best way," he said.
