National Army distributes food baskets to those hit by the wave caused by rains in Chocó department

Ejército Nacional llega con mercados para damnificados por la ola invernal en Chocó

In coordination with the government, the National Risk Management Unit and the Fifteenth Brigade are distributing more than 300 humanitarian aid kits.

The heavy rains reported in the department of Chocó have caused floods and landslides that have caused chaos in the houses of the people of Alto Baudó; there have been more than 7,000 people hit by the wave caused by rains.

That is why the Fifteenth Brigade, in coordination with the Government and the UNGR, are carrying out operations to mitigate the negative impact caused by the emergency caused by rains to many families, low income most of them, who have repeatedly been forced to get to safety on the roof of their houses, due to the increased flow of water.

In order to mitigate the shortages generated by this wave caused by rains, 350 humanitarian aid kits were distributed to families in one of the municipalities hardest hit by the floods.

For these tasks, the soldiers of the 26th Ground Operations Battalion are ready 24 hours a day, in order to help these people who have lost their belongings.
