In the military operation, a large amount of weaponry and military accessories were seized, including high-destructive rifles, machine guns, grenade launchers, mortars and ammunition of different calibers. One of the members in the same way surrendered to justice.
In the midst of the ongoing operation against Organized Armed Groups, GAO, troops of the Fifteenth Brigade of Colombian National Army found two illegal hiding places belonging to the Jairo de Jes煤s Durango Restrepo Substructure, of the GAO Clan del Golfo.
The military operation was carried out in a rural area of the municipality of Medio San Juan, department of Choc贸, where important war arsenals and military accessories material were found by troops.
Among the weapons found, there were 2 caliber rifles .50, extremely powerful weapons capable of piercing lightly armored vehicles such as armored pickups and tactical transports. In addition, these rifles can damage engines, electronic systems and fuselages of helicopters and light aircraft.
In total, the hideouts contained 32 rifles, 3 shotguns, 3 machine guns, 5 grenade launchers, 2 MGL, a 60 mm mortar, 4 small firearms, 66 magazines and more than 2,000 ammunition of different calibers.
In addition, material of military accessories such as camouflage uniforms, campaign equipment, vests, assault bags, hammocks, and other items with insignia alluding to the GAO Clan del Golfo were found by troops.
During the military operation, a member of this criminal organization decided to surrender to justice and seek his return to legality.
By means of this finding, the logistical capacity of the GAO Clan del Golfo is significantly hit and its offensive power against the inhabitants and the Military Forces is weakened.
