National Army finds war material of FARC dissidents in Putumayo

In the event, two individuals, who were members of the 32nd and 49th fronts of the former Farc, were captured. They were currently working in security and protection.

 

In the course of military operations conducted in the southwest of Putumayo, troops of the Twenty-Seventh Brigade of the National Army, at a checkpoint, after inspecting a vehicle, found abundant war material.

 

The action occurred in the village La Alea, in the municipality of Puerto Asís, where after checking the inside of a van, more than five thousand units of ammunition of different calibers and two firearms were found.

 

The two individuals, who had been members of the 32nd and 49th fronts of the former Farc, and were reportedly taking advantage of their status as security and protection officials to carry out the transport of war material and ammunition.

 

According to the first information, the men would have received this material in the municipality of Puerto Guzmán, on the banks of the Caquetá River and would be moving towards the village of La Rosa, where alias Lucho, member of the residual organized armed group, GAO- r (in Spanish), structure 48, would receive it.

 

The two individuals and the material were put into custody of the authorities.
