The discovery represents a serious blow to the logistical capacity and military accessories of the Edgar Amílkar Grimaldo Baron substructure that commits crimes in the Magdalena Medio region.
In the framework of military operations, Colombian National Army found an illegal hiding place belonging to the organized armed group, GAO, ELN in the village of Puerto Matilde, municipality of Yondo, department d’Antioquia. The discovery was made thanks to information provided as part of an in-depth survey in this rural area.
In the place, troops found military accessories, communications, weapons and documentation of value for military intelligence, which were allegedly used for the logistical support of the substructure, belonging to the GAO ELN.
This result weakens the supply and mobility resources of this organized armed group, reducing its margin of operation and preventing possible criminal operations against the inhabitants.
Through this important operation, Colombian National Army reaffirms its commitment to the security and stability of the middle Magdalena region, conducting permanent operations to neutralize the threats of illegal armed groups and also to protect the life and good physical condition of the communities in the region.
