On Kilometer 17 the driver of the vehicle traveling on the Pan American Highway was captured. The cargo would cost more than 2,766 million pesos, and apparently belonged to the organized armed group, Gao, Clan del Golfo; he traveled to the Colombian Caribbean coast.

National Army troops, in development of sustained military operations in the Middle Magdalena, through search and control work, coordinated with the National Police, intercepted the vehicle that was traveling on the Panamerican highway, and found a cargo of 532 packages of cocaine hydrochloride, apparently belonging to the substructure Jorge Ivan Arboleda Garcés, of the Organised Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo.

The event occurred near Kilometer 17, in the municipality of Cimitarra, Santander, after tracking this vehicle coming from the Pacific Coast. The shipment of illicit drugs, costing more than 2.766 million pesos, was embedded in a compartment of the cargo platform, so it was necessary to dismantle the sheets that covered the substance.

Thanks to the expertise of the motorized patrols, it was possible to prevent the 532 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride from reaching the city of Cartagena, which was the final destination.

The driver of the vehicle was captured and put into custody of the Attorney General's office, where a judge of the Republic issued a prison measure.
