This individual has a criminal record of more than 15 years and was responsible for coordinating and carrying out kidnappings for extortion purposes and the commercialization of coca-based paste.
During operations against the Organized Armed Group (GAO) ELN, in the north of Valle del Cauca, troops of the National Army neutralized the second ringleader of the finance group of the front Ernesto Che Guevara.
The events took place in the village of Playa Rica, rural area of the municipality of Bolívar. The troops arrived to the place and after a combat alias El Indio was killed. This armed group, under the command of this individual, had been frightening the community with selective threats and criminal acts.
Alias El Indio, with 15 years in the organization, was in charge of kidnapping, commercialization of coca-based paste and collection of money from extortion to merchants, ranchers and transporters in the region.
In the operation, an M16 rifle, a pistol, a hand grenade, rifle magazines, abundant ammunition, communications equipment, two GPS, military material and documentation of that Organized Armed Group -that is analyzed by military intelligence personnel- were seized.
During the military operation a civilian was injured, which was assisted quickly and in a timely manner by the combat nurses of the unit. He was later taken to a care center and, by this time, is stable and with his family.
This important military operation hit the command and control of this illegal group and weakens the illicit economy of the Ernesto Che Guevara Front.
Territorial control operations continue in the area in order to ensure the security and protection of the inhabitants of Valle del Cauca.
