Members of the organized armed groups planned to carry out an indiscriminate attack in the rural area of the municipality of San José del Guaviare, department of Guaviare.
National Army troops, within the framework of the Ayacucho Plus campaign plan and within the framework of military operations conducted in a sustained manner against the factors of instability in the department of Guaviare, receive intelligence information about the activity of members of organized armed groups in the village Barranco Colorado de Charras, municipality of San José del Guaviare, who planned to attack the communities and the Military Forces of the sector.
That is why, troops of the Infantry Battalion No. 19 General José Joaquín París Ricaurte of the Twenty-Second Rainforest Brigade, in coordination with the anti-explosive group of the National Police of the Guaviare and with the support of the Aviation Mobility and Maneuver Battalion No. 4, identified and destroyed in controlled conditions various explosive materials and means of launching.
National Army neutralizes terrorist operation and deactivates explosive devices in San José del Guaviare
Among the neutralized elements there are, four 100-kilo gas cylinder launchers, a fiberglass sphere-type improvised explosive device, eight cut sections of gas cylinders conditioned with explosives, a 16 mm shotgun-type firearm and a hand-made weapon; all of these elements were found in a house that was allegedly used for the manufacture of explosives.
These means and methods prohibited by the IHL, had the sole purpose of hitting the citizens of the department, that is why the Command of the Fourth Division will continue with military operations in the area, with the sole objective of arresting those responsible and dismantling other possible threats.
