Eight girls belonging to the JIW indigenous people, were part of the Know Your Country campaign, who, in the midst of games, flora and fauna, lived a day of great experiences. This activity was led by troops of the Twenty-Second Jungle Brigade, in the department of Guaviare and supported by the Guaviare governorate.
In the frame of the Ayacucho Plan, soldiers of the Combat Services Battalion No.22, of the National Army, accompanied eight girls between the ages of 5 and 12 of the Jiw indigenous people of the village Barranc贸n, municipality of San Jos茅 del Guaviare, to enjoy a tour where they knew emblematic and recognized places of the city of Villavicencio.
From the early hours, the route started from the department of Guaviare; with a special breakfast the girls and the military personnel, arrived in the city of Villavicencio, where soldiers of the Battalion of comprehensive action and Development No.4, they were greeted with a street of honor, applauses and a dog show.
They began with the tour to the Los Ocarros Bioparque, where in the midst of the flora and fauna, everybody lived a wonderful experience.
Part of this strategy consists of making an institutional presence demonstrating to all the inhabitants that soldiers will always watch over the well-being of the most vulnerable communities, which is why, for the National Army, carrying out these activities entails contributing to the development and progress of the more than 30 indigenous settlements in the Colombian southeast.
During this activity, the SENA (National learning service) who voluntarily contributed with their knowledge and made hairstyles for the girls.
It should be noted that these minors, who have been vulnerable and have suffered different types of domestic violence, are protected by the Santuario del Sol workshop house, responsible for providing support to children and adolescents of these indigenous communities, supplying their basic needs through training spaces and the good use of free time, through music, play and reaffirmation of ancestral traditions.
