Due to the heavy rains in recent hours in the departments of Meta and Cundinamarca, during the early morning of July 18, the Brigade of Engineers for Disaster Care and Prevention sent a group of soldiers specialized in search and rescue in order to find the victims and provide emergency support.
After the rains, the activation of the National Disaster Risk Management System is carried out, at this moment the displacement towards the disaster zone begins from various points of the country, such as Villavicencio, Bogotá and Pereira.
For this emergency, nine equipment operators, 42 specialized care soldiers and 30 basic care soldiers were sent for completing 81 units.
Additionally, machinery such as dump trucks, loaders, excavators, tractor trucks and trucks are also available.
