In a highly precise maneuver, soldiers of the National Army rescued, in less than 24 hours and through an aerial extraction operation, a citizen who was planned to be kidnapped by alleged members of the residual organized armed group Franco Benavides Structure.
The timely operation of the troops led to thwarting the kidnapping attempt in the village of El Ejido, a rural area of the municipality of Policarpa, department of Nari帽o. Thanks to the quick reaction, the life of a citizen who was under direct threat of kidnapping by this illegal armed group was safeguarded.
During the Operation, the Rapid Deployment Battalion No. 5, of the Rapid Deployment Force No. 2, attended an urgent request for support by the Ombudsman's Office, the Mayor's Office of Policarpa and the National Police.
Faced with the activity of at least ten armed members of this residual structure, an aerial extraction maneuver was conducted by Colombian National Army Aviation, which led to the evacuation of the civilian who was going to be kidnapped.
This operation reflects the reaction capacity and effectiveness of Colombian National Army in containing threats against the inhabitants. The permanent deployment of the troops in this area of the southwest of the country seeks precisely to neutralize violent operations, such as this kidnapping attempt, and provide tranquility to the communities.
