During a coordinated and interagency operation, carried out in the early hours of the morning by the National Navy, the National Police and the Prosecutor's Office, it was possible to capture a person known as 'Mente', a member of “Los Ronda” criminal organization.
Thanks to intelligence work, troops of the Military Gaula (anti kidnapping group) – Bolívar, of the National Navy, in coordination with the Sijin (Judicial Police) of the Metropolitan Police of Cartagena, the operation that ended with the capture of Carlos Andrés Chaves De La Rosa, was carried out. He is charged with the homicide, on October 5, 2017, of Jorge Luis García Berrio, social leader of the No. 3 locality and President of the Communitarian action Board of the Nelson Mandela neighborhood of Cartagena.
He is in the same way responsible for having participated in several murders in Cartagena, and in turn, in the control and distribution of narcotics sales points in the south western area, where he was currently the head of the criminal organization "Los Ronda". In addition, he would have participated in the disappearance of two taxi drivers, in the Henequen neighborhood of Cartagena, in October 2016.
During the capture procedure, he was found in possession of a Llama Cassidy revolver, with six cartridges, 145 doses of marijuana and a cell phone.
The man, 38, was put into custody of the Specialized Prosecutor's Office of Cartagena.

Alias “Mente”, is the first capture of the most wanted criminals, according to the most recent publication of the poster 'These criminals are going to pay', which is part of the new rewards plan of the Ministry of National Defense, in the frame of the a commitment of the National Government, in the fight against crime, and the heavy operation to prosecute the assassins of social leaders and the ringleaders of the different criminal structures.
This person is accused, among others, of the crimes of aggravated forced disappearance, aggravated torture, forced displacement, aggravated conspiracy to commit narcotics trafficking, homicide, extortion and trafficking, manufacture or possession of narcotics and firearms or ammunition.
