In a joint, coordinated and inter-institutional operation with the components of the Coast Guard of San Andrés, the Navy of Colombia, the Caribbean Air Group of the Colombian Air Force, the National Police and the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the Office of the Attorney General of the Nation.

In compliance with the Bicentenary Strategic Plan “Heroes de la Libertad”, aimed to fight transnational crimes, the Caribbean Naval Force, through the Specific Command of San Andrés y Providencia, discovered 16 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride, which were aboard the motorboat 'Smart' that had departed Barranquilla and would have arrived in San Andres Island, last May 15 with final destination the isle of Providencia.

This finding is the product of the inspection carried out on the Colombian motorboat, by the Coast Guard Station of San Andrés and the Anti-narcotics Police, who found hidden in the cargo compartment, 16 rectangular packages, with apparently narcotic substances.

Personnel of the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the Office of the Prosecutor, made the Preliminary Identification Test, which resulted positive for 16 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride.

The Captain of the motor ship, born in Cartagena - Bolívar, was captured for the crime of trafficking, manufacturing or carrying narcotics.
