Units of the Colombian navy carried out the evacuation of an inhabitant of Santa Cruz del Islote, in the archipelago of San Bernardo, who allegedly suffered a wound with possible fracture in one of his arms, because of a home accident.

The evacuation was carried out after receiving the alert call from one of the inhabitants of this community, who gave notice to the Coast Guard Station of Coveñas through the emergency line, informing about the open wound in the left hand, with a possible fracture.

The protocol for this type of evacuation was immediately activated and a Rapid Reaction Unit was set up to evacuate the injured person and transport him to the dock of the municipality of Berrugas, in the municipality of San Onofre, in Sucre, where he was received by one of his relatives, to be subsequently transported to the health center of the municipality, where he received medical assistance and is currently in the process of recovery.

This year the coast Guard Station Coveñas has made 10 evacuations due to medical problems and emergencies in general, contributing in this way to the well-being and the health of the inhabitants of the coastal departments of Sucre and Córdoba, as well as the Archipelago of San Bernardo island, in department of Bolívar.
