016.jpg

The Navy of Colombia, through the Specific Command of San Andrés and Providencia of the Caribbean Naval Force, managed to rescue 25 Nicaraguan citizens, including a minor of age accompanied by his father and three Hondurans who were abandoned in the area of Cayo Serranilla Island, by the Nicaraguan flag fishing ship "Capitan Alejandro", which was being used for snail fishing, a fishing currently closed.

The foreigners, who were left adrift aboard 12 smaller boats, without the minimum safety measures at sea, were assisted by the staff of the Naval authorities "Isla Cayo Serranilla", who provided them with food, hydration and first aid, safeguarding the good physical condition and the life of the navigators.

The 28 people were transported to San Andres Island, aboard the Ship " ARC San Andrés", where they received medical assistance and some clothing items of the Naval Social  action, to be later put into custody of Migración Colombia, in order to carry out the repatriation process to their country of origin.

Among the smaller ships, troops found 80 kilos of snail, 65 diving tanks, 23 wooden oars, 11 pairs of fins, 14 diving masks, 14 tanks of oxygen tanks, 8 regulators for diving, 11 fishing rods , and 16 knives, which were put into custody of the secretary of Agriculture and Fisheries.
