The Coast Guard Station of Santa Marta, released a turtle Laud type, which was in emergency, after being trapped in a fishing net by its neck and body, preventing its normal displacement by water.

This reptile in way of extinction, a meter and a half in length, was put in safety, thanks to the rapid reaction of the Coast Guard Units of Santa Marta, who came before the solidary call of the crew of the boat 'POLARIS II ', who saw the animal's emergency, giving notice to the authorities.

The network used in rudimentary fishing, was entangled in the limbs of this turtle, which can reach up to 2.70 centimeters, preventing mobility, and causing their state of helplessness.

Upon arrival, the units of the Navy of Colombia, highly trained to safeguard the life of the animals of the marine ecosystem, proceeded to remove the remains of the net from the body of the animal. The turtle received primary assistance from officials of the Regional Autonomous Corporation of the Rio Grande de la Magdalena -Cormagdalena, who recommended that it had to be returned to its natural habitat, once the emergency has been overcome.

The Caribbean Naval Force invites the community to preserve the flora and fauna of the marine environment, preventing leaving solid waste that may hit the life and safety of marine species, while ratifying its commitment to the defense of the environment, in the areas under its responsibility.
