After the alleged armed clashes reported in recent weeks in the Bajo Calima and the areas surrounding the Yurumanguí River basin, in a rural area of the Buenaventura - Valle del Cauca District, conducted by members of Organized Armed Groups who commit crimes in this area of the country disputing the control of mobility routes, production and stockpiling of illicit substances, the Colombian Navy continues to be present and strengthening its security operations in the area with troops and Navy Infantry units.
The military personnel carry out search operations and military control of the area, in order to protect its inhabitants, which has led to no losses or confinement of civilians, due to the fact that troops of the Naval Institution continue to provide security conditions, respect for human rights and the normal development of the daily activities of the people of the country.
On the other hand, in response to the denunciation of the Ombudsman's Office, for the alleged occupation by Colombian Navy troops of the La Primavera people's school, adjacent to the Yurumanguí river basin, where a combat allegedly occurred, the Naval Institution, in its work for the protection of Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law, is conducting corresponding inquiries to check the actions of the troops in the protected assets, and in the event of being appropriate, it will give rise to the pertinent legal operations.
The Colombian Navy will continue to carry out operations in the Colombian Pacific, to prevent criminal operations of Organized Armed Groups that commit crimes on the Pacific Coast. In the same way, it invites people to report on the toll-free line 147, available 24 hours a day, any illegal or suspicious activity that puts at risk the security of the ethnic communities that inhabit the region.
