New river support patrol boat strengthens security in Bolívar, Cesar and Magdalena

This Unit was built by the Science and Technology Corporation for the development of the Maritime and River Naval Industry - COTECMAR.

 

 

At a military ceremony presided over by the Commander of the Navy Infantry Brigade No.1,Navy Infantry Colonel Orlando Antonio Alarcón López; the ARC CTCIM Light River patrol boat Cristian Rangel was received; it is a unit that seeks to strengthen the security of the inhabitants of the Colombian Caribbean along the Magdalena River.

 

This Unit is designed as a platform for communications, intelligence and logistical support systems for river combat elements. It is in the same way equipped with ballistic protection and high firepower operation capability and has the capacity to transport 36 armed and equipped navy men. On board it has spaces for fuel storage, spare parts, ammunition, groceries, as well as accommodation, dining and nursing areas.

 

This Light River Support Patrol Boat attached to Navy Infantry River Battalion No.17, was named in tribute to the memory of Navy Infantry Captain Cristian Evangelista Rangel Hernández, who on July 21, 2021, during area control activities in the municipality of San José del Guaviare, died in a confrontation with a group outlaw.

 

The Colombian Navy will continue to contribute with its human and technical resources for the Nation, increasing the maritime and river power that led contributing to the security and well-being of the inhabitants of the Colombian Caribbean.
