Troops of the Omega Task Force of the National Army arrested 5 members of the Jorge Suárez Briceño GAO-r Bloc, including alias Joiner or Yoiner, the second ringleader of the Marco Aurelio Buendía structure, in the rural area of Vista Hermosa, Meta department.
The result was produced thanks to a rigorous military intelligence work, planning of the military operation and tactical maneuvers carried out by soldiers of the Rapid Deployment Battalion Nº 31, of the Rapid Deployment Force Nº 11, units of the Omega Task Force of Colombian National Army, who intercepted this armed group traveling with orders to reorganize illegal structures in the southeast of the country on a tertiary road in the village of Nueva Colombia.
During the military operation, four men and one woman were arrested, including alias Joiner, the second ringleader of the Marco Aurelio Buendía Structure; alias Marlon, the second finance ringleader of the same structure, and alias Yuri, alias Joiner's girlpartner, who was a nurse of this armed group.
In the same way, it was possible to confiscate 5 rifles, 2 pistols, abundant ammunition of different calibers, communications equipment, elements of military accessories and elements of strategic value for military intelligence, which will lead to continue weakening this illegal organization that had already been hit in January of this year with the death in the framework of military operations of two members of that criminal structure, including alias la Gorda, head of security of alias Patepalo, in the same area.
According to military intelligence information, alias Joiner or Yoiner has more than a decade of criminal experience in the departments of Meta and Guaviare, where he was allegedly responsible for multiple armed and terrorist acts. Among these, he is charged with participating in the selective homicide of a social leader in the year 2022, in a rural area of Puerto Rico, department of Meta; the coordination of systematic extortions against merchants, transporters and cattle ranchers in the municipalities of Vista Hermosa and San José del Guaviare, during the years 2023 and 2024, as well as the installation of improvised explosive devices and armed attacks against Military Forces units on strategic routes connecting Vista Hermosa, La Macarena and Puerto Cachicamo, events that left soldiers injured and serious damages to the inhabitants.
In the same way, it would be linked to the recruitment of minors and the control of drug trafficking routes for the financial strengthening of this criminal structure.
Those arrested, as well as the elements that were found by troops, were put into custody of the Attorney General's Office for their respective prosecution and imputation of charges for the crimes established by the authority.
This powerful result of the military operation significantly hits the criminal resources of the Marco Aurelio Buendía Structure, subordinate to the ringleader alias Patepalo, and ratifies the commitment of Colombian National Army to security, territorial stability and the protection of communities in the departments of Meta, Guaviare department and Caquetá department, through sustained, coordinated and inter-institutional military operations against the residual organized armed groups that commit crimes in the region.
