Operation against drug trafficking conducted in the department of Putumayo

The Southern Naval Force, through its subaltern units, within the framework of joint operations with the National Army and the Colombian Air Force in the department of Putumayo, found and dismantled constructions for the production of narcotics, finding inside equipment, machinery and other elements used for the manufacture of narcotics.

In recent weeks, units attached to Navy Infantry River Battalion No.30 have reported the finding and subsequent destruction of 11 constructions for the production of coca base and six hideouts for the collection of solid and liquid precursors, finding a total of 4,761 gallons of liquid precursors, 1,146 kilograms of coca leaf, 813 kilograms of coca base and 58 kilograms of solid precursors.

These overwhelming results hit the illicit finances of the Organized Armed Groups that commit crimes in the Alto and Medio Putumayo area, while recovering the spaces damaged due logging to build these illegal constructions. In the same way, the residues of the chemical substances used during the process of making narcotic drugs are prevented from being left in the soils and water sources, generating pollution in the area and weakening ecosystems.
