The Colombian Navy and the National Army keep their units deployed in the San Juan river carrying out joint operations against the Organized Armed Group ELN. That is why it was possible the finding and subsequent destruction of a laboratory for the production of hallucinogenic substances and three campgrounds in the department of Chocó.

The first search and control operation took place in the sector known as Monte Bravo, in the municipality of Istmina, where troops of the Navy Infantry River Battalion No. 24 and the Ground Operations Battalion No. 26, found three campgrounds with a capacity to house up to 20 individuals of the Ernesto Che Guevara Front. It could be established that the site had recently been abandoned by the members of this group, leaving behind two rudimentary explosive devices that they would use against the troops of the Military Forces.

In the second operation on the Quebrada Nuigimaio, in the rural area of Istmina, the troops found a laboratory for production of coca base paste, built of wood, where the individuals stored solid and liquid supplies, including 63 gallons of coca leaf ground with gasoline, seven gallons of gasoline, seven gallons of ammonia, two gallons of petroleum, 100 kg of cement, 120 kg of lime, and a blender.

Once the judicial procedures and established protocols were complied, the laboratory, the campgrounds and the material found were destroyed in a controlled manner, preventing hitting the environment.
