Alias Tatareto would have a criminal experience of more than 10 years within this structure and would be the second ringleader of the armed group under the command of alias Primo Gay. He would be responsible for the displacements that occurred in the municipality of Briceño.
The strength of the military operation of the troops of the Field Artillery Battalion No. 4 of the Fourth Brigade, in coordination with the National Police, led to the arrest in flagrante delicto of two alleged members of the residual organized armed group E36, in the village Travesías, of the municipality of Briceño, north of Antioquia.
Among those arrested is alias Tatareto, alleged second ringleader and right-hand man of alias Primo Gay, one of the main ringleaders of this criminal structure in the department. According to military intelligence information, alias Tatareto would have more than a decade of criminal experience, participating in operations of intimidation, extortion and territorial control in several municipalities of northern Antioquia.
The other arrested, known as El Gordo, would have about six years inside the illegal organization and would be the right-hand man of alias tatareto.
Both would be allegedly linked to the recent displacements that occurred in the municipality of Briceño, where a peasant who had returned to his farm to feed his livestock was in the same way killed.
During the operation, the troops rescued an inhabitant of the region who had been kidnapped by the illegal group. Thanks to the timely and decisive reaction of the soldiers, the citizen was rescued and safely returned to his home.
The intelligence work in the same way led to the establishment that those arrested would be related to threats against workers of the Hidroituango hydroelectric project, from whom they demanded extortion payments. In the same way, they would be the alleged responsible for the installation of improvised explosive devices on the road axis that connects Travesías with El Hoyo, with the purpose of attacking military units that were conducting security tasks in the area.
Similarly, they allegedly participated in the latest attack with explosive devices against the construction of the Chorreritas hydroelectric project, in the municipality of San Andrés de Cuerquia, due to the non-payment of extortion.
During the operation, a firearm and several units of ammunition were seized, which, along with those arrested, were put into custody of the Attorney General's Office for urgent acts and the corresponding judicial process.
Through this result, the criminal structure of the residual organized armed group (GAO-r) Structure 36 is significantly hit, by weakening its logistical, armed and explosives expert capacity, since alias Tatareto had the preparation and experience to execute this type of operations. In the same way, its financial capacity is reduced, by preventing the entry of money from extortion against farmers, merchants and miners in the region.
This military operation contributes to preventing new targeted killings and to reducing the intimidation that this group intends to impose on the inhabitants, thus strengthening the security of the communities of northern Antioquia.
