What was considered the logistics and distribution center for weapons, ammunition, military accessories and explosives of this armed group was found in the village of Honduras. A large military operation arrived in the area as a reinforcement to Operation Perseo.
More than 300 soldiers and police officers with specialized training arrived in this area, considered strategic because it houses the main hideout of explosive devices, weapons and military accessory material. The operation was supported by UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters, Super Tucano aircraft, artillery, armored vehicles and unmanned aircraft, with the purpose of reinforcing security in a key point of the Colombian southwest, in response to the call of the community.
Within the framework of Operation Perseo II, and with the aim of countering the operations of illegal armed groups that threaten the tranquility of the communities of the region, Colombian National Army and the National Police deployed more than 300 highly trained men in combat techniques and tactics to the village Honduras. After an occupation operation maneuver, the largest finding of ammunition, explosives and military accessories material reported in the framework of this military operation was possible, which began on October 12, 2024 with the entry in the village El Plateado.
During the operation, more than 250 thousand cartridges of different calibers, two long weapons, a rudimentary mini-Uzi, about 5000 magazines, more than 200 rifle parts, 400 improvised detonators, 180 improvised explosive devices, 83 anti-personnel mines, 78 improvised explosive devices adapted for drones, material for the preparation of 1200 anti-personnel mines, 700 meters of two wire cable and detonating cord, as well as other elements of military accessories and propaganda alluding to the terrorist group were found by troops .
As part of this operation, UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters of Colombian National Army Aviation, unmanned aircraft, artillery and cavalry resources, as well as specialized Explosive and Demolition teams (EXDE) were necessary. These resources led to carrying out strategic displacements and detecting threats, significantly strengthening the effectiveness of military operations on the ground.
Together with the Colombian Aerospace Force and in coordination with the National Police, the military units carry out sustained operations to hit the logistical and financial structures of illegal armed groups. This inter-institutional work seeks to weaken the criminal networks that support illicit activities in the region and that directly affect the safety of the inhabitants.
Colombian National Army reaffirms its commitment to the defense and protection of the inhabitants of the department of Cauca, carries out operations for the institutional control of the territory. These operations, framed in the Ayacucho Plus Joint Strategic Campaign Plan, are constantly focused on the neutralization of threats, the protection of critical construction and the well-being of communities.
