Second Lieutenant Paula Rodr铆guez Rueda, a nine-time Pan-American champion, will represent Colombia in the World Chess Olympiad, the most important competition of this sport in the world.
In the number one position of the national chess ranking there is the second lieutenant Paula Rodriguez Rueda, officer of the Military School of Cadets 'General Jos茅 Mar铆a C贸rdova', where she is a platoon commander in the company of athletes, in the same way she complies with the promise of honor to train future officers of the National Army.
Second Lieutenant Rodriguez holds the title of International Chess Master, becoming the only woman in the country with this certification. Thanks to her expertise in sports, Paula won a direct quota for the World Chess Olympiad to be held on September 23 in Batumi, Georgia, where around 180 countries will compete in teams for the title of champions and first place in the most important competition in the world in this discipline.
Over the years in the different participations Colombia has occupied the position number 32 and 33 in the years 2014 and 2016 respectively; for 2018 the goal of second lieutenant Paola is to rank in the top 20 positions, thus giving the best representation of the country in these competition.
