Positive report of rescues of the Colombian Air Force, in the department of Meta

The heavy wave of rains in the east of colombia during the months of may, June, July which hit the goods of more than 500 families, and hit the good physical condition of several inhabitants of Meta due to the overflows of the rivers Guayuriba, Guatiquía, Río Guamal, Rio Negrito, River Chichimene, Rio Humadea, among others, left as a result the evacuation of 57 people in rescue missions carried out by the Colombian Air Force to save the citizens that could not be extracted with the maneuvers on the ground by the Relief agencies.

The multiple emergencies generated by the overflowing of the different rivers required Day and night operations of the Black Hawk UH-60 Angel helicopter of the Air Combat Command No.2, to evacuate children, adolescents, adults and elderly to safe places where local authorities provide the urgent medical assistance that many of them required as well as their relocation.

In general, 24 minors, six elderly persons and 27 adults were recovered from imminent danger and evacuated from risk areas.  Many of them needed immediate assistance due to health problems.

Recently, the Institute of Hydrology, Meteorology and Environmental Studies, IDEAM, through Mrs. Yolanda Gonzalez, director of the institution, announced that in September will begin the second rainy season. She said that this year the hurricane and cyclone systems are more active than in previous years. "This will generate rain at the Plains region and much of the Andean region," Gonzalez said.
