The Joint Stabilization and Consolidation Task Force Hercules informs:
1. After a counterintelligence operation by the National Army, in coordination with the National Police and the Attorney General's Office, five soldiers of the institution and an individual were arrested by court order.
2. Those arrested were put into custody of the authorities, who conducted their judicial process and will be those who determine if they are responsible for the alleged offences of conspiracy to commit crimes, aggravated, embezzlement by appropriation along with traffic, manufacturing and possession of weapons, ammunition of restricted and exclusive use of the military forces.
3. The operation and arrests were carried out in the municipality of Tumaco, in the department of Nariño.
4. These operations are generated with the purpose of contributing to the strengthening of the institutional policy of transparency and to carry out operations to prevent and detect criminal behavior of military personnel, which are far from the principles and institutional values, contrary to the Political Constitution and the Law.
5. This Command, in compliance with the constitutional principle of harmonious collaboration to be conducted by the institutions, reiterates its full support to the competent authorities, to speed up the investigations that are underway, in order to determine the responsibilities and sanctions to take place within the framework of due process.
