In joint, coordinated and inter – institutional military operations aimed at safeguarding Personnel in the Process of Reincorporation of the Former Territorial Training and Reincorporation Space, Yarí, troops of the Caguán Specific Command (CEC) - Land Operations Battalion No. 70, working in the security area on the vicinity of this AETCR, soldiers Kevin Jhoen Vélez Valencia and Rubén Darío Varón Romo were vilely murdered and some civilians were wounded during the attack per perpetrated by Residual Organized Armed Group, GAO-r, structure of the terrorist Gentil Duarte, by explosive charges directed with improvised explosive devices within the hamlet of Playa Rica, 10 meters from a house and 60 meters of the School, municipality of La Macarena, Meta, in the same way violating the inhabitants and violating Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law.
1. With this type of insane operations, the Residual Organized Armed Group, GAO-r, again flagrantly violates Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law, ignoring the principle of distinction, which prohibits that civilians get exposed in the midst of hostilities. Article 142 of Act No. 599 of 2000 (Colombian Penal Code) in the same way criminalizes the use of unlawful means and methods of warfare.
2. The soldiers of land, river and air express a heartfelt greeting of condolence to the relatives, partners and companions of the two murdered soldiers; we pray to the Almighty for their eternal rest; in the same way, support is provided to their loved ones. Procedures are in progress and coordinated to take the bodies to their homes in Mocoa (Putumayo) and Buenaventura (Valle del Cauca).
3. The Joint Task Force Omega will continue operating against the terrorist structure Gentile Duarte, responsible for the systematic violation of all the rights of the inhabitants in this important region of the country.
