On the unfortunate events that occurred in the municipality of Mariquita, in the Department of Tolima, the command of the First Division informs:
1. According to initial reports, Second Sergeant José Orley Cardona Triviño, of the Mechanized Infantry Battalion No.4 General Antonio Nariño, being out of service, in the municipality of Mariquita, would have killed his wife, a member of the National Police, and ultimately the sub officer would have committed suicide.
2. The authorities went to the scene in order to clarify what happened and determine the circumstances of time, mode and place.
3. Knowing what happened, this command activated the protocols established to accompany the family with a multidisciplinary team. It has in the same way coordinated with the military units, with the purpose of supporting the judicial authorities.
4. We express our heartfelt condolences to the families hit by such painful events, as well as to our beloved institution of the National Police, and we ask God for the strength necessary to face the difficult situation.
