PRESS RELEASE OF THE COLOMBIAN NATIONAL ARMY

The Command of the Aviation Division of Air Assault of the National Army informs:

 

1. At approximately 7:30 pm July 17, in air operations to supply the troops of the Third Division, in the sector known as La Cominera in the municipality of Corinto, in the department of Cauca, an accident of MI-17 EJC 3385 helicopter of the Army Aviation occurred; it falls during landing maneuver.

 

2. Immediately, the military unit that secured the area approached the sector of the aircraft confirming that the crew, made up of two officers and three non-commissioned officers, as well as two other non-commissioned officers on board the helicopter, were alive and out of danger. Enemy’s operation has been discarded.

 

3. The troops of the Third Division, the Aviation Mobility and Maneuver Battalion No.3, and an Accident Investigation Group of the Air Assault Aviation Division, traveled to the site to determine the causes of the accident.

 

4. The personnel who was in the helicopter were taken to the Third Brigade health center in the city of Cali, as well as to Valle de Lili Hospital, where medical personnel will conduct the pertinent evaluations to determine the health status of the crew and passengers. .
