cogfm-logo-ffmm.jpg

With regard to information published the night before, related to the operation carried out on August 29 in the rural area of San Vicente del Caguán, Caquetá, the General Command of the military forces informs:

1.    After the aerial interception operation, there were no pursuits, fighting or operations leading to the death of alleged members of the residual organized armed group.

2.    The Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences is the only institution that can issue legal scientific opinions to establish possible causes of death and fully identify the dead bodies and their biological ages.

3.    Opportunely, the military forces put into custody of the authorities, the personnel, the information, the documents and the materials related to the operation, to conduct investigations.

4.    There is full confidence in the investigations being carried out by the Office of the attorney-general and the Office of the Attorney-General of the nation, and we hope that the results will be published opportunely to the public, in order to prevent it from continuing to speculate about the actions of the members of the Military Forces in the operation.

5.    It is certain that this was a legitimate, legal operation within the framework of International Humanitarian Law.
