Report on the first 90 days of 2019 of the operation "Aquiles", in the lower Cauca

The Colombian Air Force, jointly with the Army and the National Navy, coordinated with the Police and in inter-institutional work with the Government of Antioquia, through the Military and Police Campaign Aquiles, during the first 90 days of 2019, with a gigantic operation it was possible to hit, in the department of Cauca, organized armed groups that commit crimes in the area.

 

The objective of this campaign is to attack, weaken and neutralize the criminal structures that commit crimes in the municipalities of Caucasia, Cáceres, Tarazá, Valdivia, among others, such as Eln, the GAO “Clan del Golfo”, “Los Caparrapos”, common criminality and residual armed groups, obtaining 260 captures, two casualties, the discovery of 84 weapons, approximately 7,300 units of ammunition of different calibers; in addition 14 of the members of those groups who have made the voluntary decision to leave their ranks.

 

The finances of these groups have been also hit through the destruction of 91 units of illegal exploitation of mining deposits, 31 dredgers and 20 backhoes, 32 coca base paste laboratories, 500 kilos of narcotics and more than 20 illegal hideouts. .
