Rescue of old man castaway in the bay of Tumaco

naufrago_tumaco.png

Units of the Navy of Colombia rescued, in recent hours, a man, 70, who had left to work in artisanal fishing at night hours and was surprised by a wave that left him shipwrecked, in the bay of Tumaco, in the department of Nariño.

The Units of the Coast Guard Station carried out a maritime control operation in the bay of Tumaco, when they heard shouts loudly, asking for help, so they quickly inspected the water in the dark, finding a shipwrecked male adult, who immediately was rescued.

The man, quite shocked, told how a wave hit his boat and sank it, throwing him into the water. Alone and quite worried, he tried to reach a buoy, but the current dragged him along. After an hour he heard a boat and began to scream.

The military personnel moved him to the Tumaco Coast Guard Station, where they provided medical assistance, finding him in good health. Subsequently, his relatives were notified of the situation and arrived at the Navy Unit of Colombia, to transfer him to his home.

So far this year, the Pacific Naval Force has rescued 65 people alive in different emergencies at sea.
