arc3.jpeg

Units of the Colombian Navy, in coordination with the maritime productive groups, relatives and inhabitants of the municipality of Tumaco - Nariño, are conducting the search for three people apparently missing after the maritime accident of a boat that occurred on Thursday, May 25, when it was sailing on the route of the District of Tumaco to the village of Caballo, in the coastal area of the department of Nariño.

The Colombian Navy, through the Coast Guard Station of Tumaco, was informed of the emergency by an official of the Mayor's Office of Tumaco, who reported the shipwreck of a ship named Magola near the municipality of Salahonda – Nariño, when it was transporting approximately 12 tons of construction materials, including rods, cement and ballast.

According to the information received, three men and one woman were on board the boat, apparently one of them reported reaching the shore to notify the authorities, while the other three are still missing.

Through the Tumaco Coast Guard Station, coordination was carried out with the Pacific Oceanographic and Hydrographic Research Center, which established a search area in which Coast Guard units carry out patrols.

The authorities are carrying out the relevant operations to clarify the causes of the emergency and shipwreck.
