Security forces meet with inhabitants of the Canyon of Las Hermosas

cogfm-eje-fac-reunion-canon-hermosas-01.jpg

Colonel Pedro Arnulfo Sánchez Suárez, commander of the Air Combat Command No. 4, the commanders of the Army and the National Police, met with the inhabitants of the Canyon of Las Hermosas in Chaparral (Tolima), one of the most critical areas in the frame of the Colombian conflict, in order to receive firsthand the concerns of the community.

The objective of the visit was to evaluate the needs of this region that works every day to become a territory of peace and progress, leaving behind the difficult situation that the peasants lived in this area.

Some of the community leaders applauded the visit and thanked the Security forces for coming to the Canyon to listen to them, in addition for defending them for so many years, helping them to find the peace, remembering that in the times of conflict, almost 50 years, no authority could go to those mountains.

But now, the Canyon of Las Hermosas, once a critical region due to the strong firefights, now is a calm territory, where the schools provide education to the children of the villages, and men and women, cultivate their products and can go freely to the municipal capitals, promoting investment and regional development
