Through these results, the Naval Institution prevented the commercialization of 15.6 million doses of narcotics on the international illegal market.
On board the semi-submarine, three individuals of Ecuadorian nationality were arrested.
The Colombian Navy, in the framework of operations, jointly with the Colombian Aerospace Force and coordinated with the Police, a powerful blow was dealt to the finances of transnational crime, with the finding of more than six tons of cocaine hydrochloride, valued at more than 300 million dollars, in the municipality of Tumaco, department of Nariño.
In the first operation, thanks to information provided by Naval Intelligence, Coast Guard units, with the support of an Aerospace Force aircraft, were deployed 80 nautical miles northwest of Tumaco – Nariño, detecting a semi-submarine, which was manned by three individuals of Ecuadorian nationality. During the procedure, 150 bags were found by troops, which, by their characteristics, resembled illicit substances.
Due to the adverse weather conditions, the naval device sank, however, thanks to the quick reaction of the Colombian Sailors, the men and illegal merchandise were recovered, which were transported to the Coast Guard Station of Tumaco, where the Technical Research Corps - CTI, conducted the Approved Preliminary Identification Test – PIPH, determining that it was 3,003 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride.
During the second operation, it was possible to find two underground hideouts, by troops of the Navy Infantry River Battalion No.40, which, apparently, would belong to the Armed Group Coordinadora Nacional Ejército Bolivariano (formerly Segunda Marquetalia), in the village of El Firme, in the municipality of Tumaco, Nariño. Inside, 125 sacks containing 3,260 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride were found by troops.
The material was transported to the facilities of the Navy Infantry Brigade No. 4, where the Judicial Investigation Branch – SIJIN carried out the urgent acts.
Through these operations, the Naval Institution prevented more than 300 million dollars from entering the groups of the drug trafficking organizations that commit crimes in the Colombian Pacific; in the same way, 15.6 million doses of narcotics were stopped from being marketed on the streets of the world.
