The Colombian Navy, during comprehensive maritime security and control operations, intercepted an LPV-type semi-submarine device, when it was sailing through the waters of the Colombian South Pacific, transporting 1,885 kilograms (more than 1.8 tons) of cocaine hydrochloride

The device, which apparently intended to take the cargo to Central America, was found by Coast Guard Units, who conducted an inspection inside it, finding 94 sacks of different shapes and sizes, with rectangular packages containing alleged illicit substances.

The three individuals who were crewing the semi-submarine, one Colombian and two of Ecuadorian nationality, were safely taken along with the material to a Colombian Navy ship, which later transferred them to the district of Tumaco - Nariño. In the same way, due to the difficult meteorological conditions at the place, the device presented faults, which caused its sinking.

Once in port, the authorities carried out the Approved Preliminary Identification Test – PIPH to the substance contained in the packages, leaving positive result for 1,885 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride.

The individuals, aged 26, 37 and 63, were put into custody of the authority to begin their judicial process.

With this blow to drug trafficking, the Colombian Navy prevented more than $63 million dollars from entering the logistical and financial structures of transnational crime organizations. It in the same way prevented the marketing and distribution of more than 4.7 million doses of cocaine on the international illegal market.
