The Sixth Division of Colombian National Army, in the first eight days of 2026, through its brigades in the departments of Caquetá, Putumayo and Amazonas, continues to carry out sustained military operations that have generated powerful effects on the illegal economic income that sustains the acts of criminal structures in the south of the country.
As a result of these acts, the troops managed to find and destroy 17 coca paste base laboratories, one cocaine hydrochloride laboratory and one potassium permanganate laboratory, directly hitting the financial heart of drug trafficking. These illegal constructions retained millions of dollars in income for the residual organized armed groups, resources that were used to strengthen their criminal structures, the acquisition of weapons, ammunition, communications equipment and other logistical means used to exercise territorial control and attack the inhabitants and the Military Forces.
The operations are carried out in rural areas of the municipalities of Puerto Asís, Puerto Caicedo and Puerto Guzmán, in the department of Putumayo, specifically in the villages of Nuevo Porvenir, Arizona, Teteyé, Montañita, La Cabaña, Villa Fátima, Campo Alegre and Villa Catalina La Torre, strategic areas used by these organizations for the production of narcotics.
During the procedures, illegal constructions built in rudimentary way, consisting of plastic roofs and barrels of different dimensions, as well as precursors and elements used for drug production, including coca base paste in process, gallons of gasoline, lime, cement and various tools, were disabled. All these elements had a cost of more than 2000 million pesos, which represents a direct and significant loss to criminal finances.
These acts directly hit one of the main sources of financing of the GAO-r so called Comandos de Frontera National Coordinator of the Bolivarian Army, a criminal organization that commits crimes in the department of Putumayo. The elements found were put into custody of the Attorney General's Office, conducting the respective process of prosecution.
The operations are carried out in strict compliance with the constitutional mission of Colombian National Army, with the purpose of protecting the inhabitants, preserving security, strengthening territorial stability and contributing to the development and tranquility of the communities.
The Sixth Division of Colombian National Army will continue to carry out permanent, coordinated and inter-institutional military operations, reaffirming its commitment to the frontal fight against drug trafficking, the weakening of illegal finances and the defense of Colombians.
