SOK, the explosive detection trained dog that prevented attacks in Neiva, department of Huila

Canino antiexplosivo

Military intelligence work, added to the operation of the trained dog, led the units of the Field Artillery Battalion Nº 9 Tenerife of the Ninth Brigade in coordination with CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) and Metropolitan Police of Neiva, to neutralize the plans of the armed groups outlaw, of pressing the payment of extortion fees by executing attacks.

Under pressure of the Military Forces, the perpetrators abandoned a cloth bag containing four explosive devices, each weighing approximately one kilogram, in a wooded area.

The troops moved to the place, and following the security protocols, the Sok on a thorough tour of the area made the positive signal that confirmed the presence of explosive material.

Subsequently, the intervention of the anti-explosive group of the SIJIN (JUDICIAL POLICE) of the Metropolitan Police of Neiva was necessary, who carried out a controlled detonation. Each device had a destructive range of up to 20 meters around, which make visible the seriousness of the criminal intention.

This action represents a flagrant violation of Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law.

The quick operation of the authorities and the intervention of Sok, the dog trained for the detection of explosives, not only prevented the execution of those attacks against the inhabitants and the Military Forces, but in the same way leads to send a clear message about the institutional commitment of the security forces to protect the inhabitants and in the defense of life.
