In these operations, 71 illegal constructions with more than three tons of solid precursors were found by troops and destroyed.
According to the research, each laboratory would have the capacity to process 250 gallons of coca base paste daily.
In the framework of joint, coordinated and inter-institutional operations against the transnational crime of drug trafficking, the Colombian Navy reports the discovery and destruction of 71 illegal constructions, used for the production of coca paste base, in the department of Nariño Pacific region.
The operations were carried out in the municipalities of El Charco, Francisco Pizarro, Mosquera, Olaya Herrera, San Andrés de Tumaco and Santa Bárbara de Iscuandé, in the department of Nariño, thanks to the permanent operation of the units of the Navy Infantry Brigade No. 4, in this region of the country.
Within these constructions, more than three tons of solid precursors, 31,344 gallons of liquid precursors and 32 kilograms of coca base paste were found by troops, as well as eleven boats that were allegedly being used to transport illicit substances.
According to Naval Intelligence information, the laboratories would belong to the Residual Organized Armed Group - GAOr - Alfonso Cano, structures Iván Ríos and Rafael Aguilera, criminal organizations that use drug trafficking as the main source of financing for their criminal operations against the Military Forces and the communities of the South Pacific of Nariño.
It should be noted that, for the construction and preparation of each of these constructions, more than one hectare of natural resources is intervened and the chemical residues used in the production of narcotics are indiscriminately dumped into soils and water sources, generating irreparable environmental damage.
Through these powerful results, the finances of the criminal organizations that commit crimes in this region of the country were hit by more than 111 million dollars.
