The Vice President of Colombia and Minister of Equality and Equity, Francia M谩rquez Mina, met with General Luis Carlos C贸rdoba Avenda帽o, Commander of the Colombian Aerospace Force, to learn about the strategic social responsibility work led by the institution with the Comprehensive Project of Substitution of Plantations of Illicit Use of the Alto Vichada since 2012.
In order to continue with the second phase of the social project, the progress of this initiative was presented, which, in coordination with public and private institutions, currently has 865 families who have benefited from having taken the decision to replace coca plantations with Cacao plantations; according to the National Program for the Substitution of Illicit Plantations, 888 hectares of coca have been replaced in the department of Vichada, thanks to the coordinated work of different institutions that have worked for a department free of the coca problem.
The success of this project has been based on the permanent accompaniment that the Colombian Aerospace Force has had for more than 10 years with the communities of the municipality of Cumaribo, Vichada, where to date more than 96 tons of Cacao have been transported by air from Guerima to the city of Bogot谩, where it is distributed to the Casa Luker company that, thanks to the commercial agreement signed in 2017, committed to buying all the Cacao production produced by the PROAGRO Association.
This is how, through the Ministry of Equality, the social and economic empowerment of the women of the villages of Guerima, Puerto Principe, Chupave, Palmarito and Chaparral of the municipality of Cumaribo, Vichada, will be strengthened, so that more families benefit through this social project, contributing to the achievement of the goals of the State.
