In the framework of the Esparta Military and Police Campaign, troops of the Vulcano Task Force captured, in the rural area of El Carmen, two alleged members of the GAO-Eln, who were trying to attack on the troops that provide security in that area of the Catatumbo region. The operation was carried out in coordination with the National Police and inter-agency with the Office of the Attorney General of the Nation.
Through intelligence information it was established that the individuals planned the launch of three hand grenades against the building of the National Police in the municipality of Guamalito, in the municipality El Carmen, in the department of Norte de Santander.
The terrorist operation was thwarted thanks to the rapid reaction of the soldiers of the Special Energy and Roads Battalion No. 10, who capture in flagrante delicto the individuals who had in their possession the grenades and communication system.
Once the procedures were carried out, the individuals, members of the Camilo Torres Restrepo Front, were taken to the city of Cúcuta and put into custody of the authorities.
