In tasks of intelligence and operational precision, the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) – Santander, of the Fifth Brigade, of the Second Division, carried out the successful rescue of a citizen who had been kidnapped last Monday, April 1, 2019, in rural area of Sabana de Torres, in the department of Santander.

Five days of anxiety were underwent by the man identified as Diego Andrés Patiño Rincon, 30, who was at home in the village of Puerto Limón, when, in a surprising and intimidating manner, two men with long weapons threatened him, forcing him to leave his house with an unknown destination.

Facing the anguish of not knowing any information on Diego, the family contacted the line 147 to report the kidnapping, which generated an immediate alert to all the troops deployed in the sector the “lock” plan was activated with timely information of the civic participation network; troops tracked the offenders.

At approximately seven o'clock p.m. last Friday and after an arduous follow-up of the soldiers, it was determined that in the hamlet Conchal, of the municipality of Lebrija, apparently two men would be mobilizing Diego Patiño. Thanks to the heavy pressure of the troops and the impossibility of facing them, the criminals choose to escape, which led, in minutes, to rescue the man.

The National Army invites the community to report any type of threat or situation that puts at risk tranquility anywhere in the country to line 147 to ensure a quick and timely reaction of troops.
