Within the framework of the Ayacucho Plus Campaign Plan and as part of the sustained operations against the residual organized armed groups, the Colombian Aerospace Force in a joint and coordinated work with troops of Colombian National Army and the National Police, neutralized the threat of alias Gato Feo, second ringleader of Substructure 39 Arcesio Niño, together with five of its members, in the Sabanas de San Ignacio village, of the municipality of Mapiripán, Meta, where it was in the same way possible to find important war material, communications and military accessories .
Alias Gato Feo, for whom a reward of 100 million pesos was provided, was accused of leading terrorist operations, selective homicides and kidnappings for non-payment of extortions. He is allegedly responsible for the kidnapping of two workers of a private company, last May 8 in the village of Rincón del Indio; the homicide of a well-known cattle rancher, which occurred on March 31 in the La Ye del Indio sector and he would also be the mastermind of the armed attack against the military base of Puerto Alvira, perpetrated in October 2024. In addition, he had an arrest warrant for the crimes of association to commit aggravated crimes, aggravated homicide and illegal carrying of weapons.
During the operation, five rifles, a pistol, more than 800 cartridges of different calibers, 27 magazines, five campaign equipment, four cell phones, four radios, three motorcycles and material of strategic value for military intelligence work were found by troops. The death of this ringleader considerably weakens the control of Substructure 39 Arsenio Niño, its logistics and criminal activity in the south-east of the country.
