Training on fight against drugs for non-commissioned officers of the Dominican Republic

cogfm-arc-curso-operaciones-suboficiales-republica-dominicana-04.gif

Twenty-six NCOs of the Dominican Republic completed the No.2 Fluvial Operations Course taught by instructors of the School of Fluvial Combat of Colombia in Santo Domingo. For four consecutive weeks the Colombian instructors shared their knowledge with this select group of men of the most important military units of this Caribbean island.

The trained NCOs will be in charge of the operations of the fight against drugs to guarantee security in the rivers and coasts of the Dominican Republic, strengthening their competencies in the psychological, physical and technical areas in matters such as river operations, combat survival in the water, weapons, leadership, Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law among other subjects.

The exchange of knowledge in River Operations was made thanks to the international cooperation provided to Central America and the Caribbean by the program (USCAP) conducted by the United States and Colombia, aimed at cooperation in joint regional security of the Southern Command of the United States, to counteract transnational threats that disturb the stability and security of the region.

These combatants will support the continuous fight against drugs in Central America and the Caribbean, to weaken the criminal structures of the transnational crime of drug trafficking, which intend to use the Caribbean Sea as a route for drug trafficking.
