Tribute in Coveñas to our heroes fallen in combat

sentido_homenaje_a_nuestros_heroes_caidos_en_covenas_2.jpg

The Marine Infantry Training Base in Coveñas, in the department of Sucre, held a Eucharistic celebration, where a homage was paid to our Heroes dead in operations, accompanied by the Brigadier General of Marine Infantry Ricardo Ernesto Vargas Cuéllar, Commander of the Base, the commanders of the tactical units and a group of officers, non-commissioned officers and infantry men of the base.

On this occasion, the memory of the Infantry man, Juan Diego Salgado Duque, born in the municipality of Palmitos, in the department of Sucre, who lost his life on May 23, 2010 in compliance with the constitutional duty of Defending the Nation, was exalted.

This hero died while he was in an operation against illegal organizations. In honor of all the heroes of the institution a minute of silence took place and a Catholic Eucharistic celebration was served to remember these heroes, never forgotten by the institution.

In this way the Navy of Colombia remembers the men and women, who have given their lives, showing courage and love to the country, in fulfillment of the institutional mission of protecting the Blue color of the Flag.

Peace in their tombs.
