The National Day of Memory and Solidarity with the Victims of the Armed Conflict in Colombia was commemorated in a heartfelt military ceremony, which took place at the Centro Historico del Oriente in Yopal, Casanare.

The event was presided over by Major General Eliot Benavides, Commander of the Joint Strategic Transition Command CCOET, who, together with the detachment representatives of the Colombian Air Force, National Army, Colombian Navy and National Police, made a wreath laying ceremony as a symbol of recognition to those who gave their lives in defense of the sovereignty and freedom of the Colombian people.

In the same way, the Military Medal Faith in the Cause was granted in Exceptional category to personnel of the Military Forces and civilian personnel, victims and representatives of the more than nine million recognized victims of the armed conflict in the country.

In accordance with article 142 of Law 1448, it was established that every April 9 the National Day of Memory and Solidarity with the Victims is commemorated, in order to work for the reparation and restitution of the rights of those who gave everything for freedom and justice.

In order not to forget our heroes, the Military Forces and the National Police ratify their commitment to the memory of those who throughout history have given their lives with selflessness and dedication for the safety and well-being of Colombians.
